“With our solutions, companies with limited IT budgets now can get the same cybersecurity protection as big enterprises without compromising their cybersecurity or productivity,” says Sezen Uysal, the CEO of Roqos. It is a comprehensive solution as it not only does detection and reporting but also cybersecurity enforcement by blocking malware, realtime alerting of suspicious activities, and automatic updates of malware databases and software. For example, Roqos Core appliances installed at employees’ homes provide a secure connection to company resources while protecting company devices and segregating them from employees’ other devices and preventing family members from accessing the company network. Further, the reasonable cost of Roqos Core appliances and the annual Roqos Protection fee makes it affordable to use. Another point of differentiation is that the Roqos Core appliances can be installed and managed remotely by intuitive desktop and phone apps and browsers that do not require any technical knowledge.
Roqos’ latest invention, patent-pending OmniVPNTM, allows making VPN connections through any access network such as CGNAT, multiple NATs, satellite connections, and cellular connections. It is the only appliance-based VPN technology that eliminates the need for complex port forwarding rules or the use of risky UPnP protocol on corporate firewalls to allow VPN connections. “OmniVPNTM is an example of the kind of technologies Roqos creates to solve common networking problems and to increase productivity,” states Uysal. For instance, many companies have scaled down their office space with the pandemic while most of their employees have started Working From Home (WFH).

This created new challenges, as all of a sudden, the security perimeter got extended to employees’ homes. In addition, some of the company resources now reside in the Coworking network, which companies have no control over. To this end, Roqoss OmniVPNTM provides connectivity from employee homes to company resources inside the coworking network, which Coworking management companies typically block.
What differentiates Roqos is its architecture which is built on distributed processing. “We think edge devices with lots of processing power, large memory and storage can run very powerful applications for adaptive and proactive cybersecurity,” says Uysal. By utilizing these resources on Roqos Cores, the company has implemented intrusion prevention with more than 15,000 signatures, CountryBlock feature with millions of IP addresses, device fingerprinting, rogue DHCP server detection, among other unique features. “We are constantly adding more innovative features such as locally running a vulnerability scanner to scan customers devices with schedules, generating realtime vulnerability alerts and detailed reports,” mentions Uysal.
As Roqos plans on adding many more features, they are augmenting its development team as well as building a sales team to pivot from indirect sales to direct one. “We are also working on growing partnerships with other cybersecurity companies to add more third party applications on our products,” concludes Uysal. “Our goal is to protect every single home and every single business with a Roqos solution, so that they can enjoy a more connected, safer, and smarter life.”
